Metal Sculpture Intensive Workshop
Dates: October 12–16 (5 Days)
Join renowned Midwest metal artists Steve Maeck and Kelly Ludeking for an immersive, hands-on metal sculpture workshop designed for beginners and those looking to expand their practice through real-world experience.
Over five full days (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), participants will explore the fundamentals of metal sculpture and welding, including stick, MIG, and oxy-acetylene techniques. This intensive emphasizes practical knowledge—working directly with materials, tools, and processes in a way that goes beyond traditional academic settings.
Participants will design and fabricate their own sculpture while learning how to source and assess materials, including a guided visit to a local junkyard and an iron mine.
This is the kind of experience rarely found in MFA programs—focused on hands-on learning, creative risk-taking, and the realities of working as a metal artist. Expect long days, sparks flying, and a highly individualized learning environment.
